For context, 55 hp is brisk and more than enough for confident street and canyon riding, with a quick 0–60 mph of about 3.8 seconds from instant electric torque. It is simply not a number that scales with a $42,000 sticker. You are buying this bike for the materials and the craft, not the horsepower.
The claim is a best-case number you will rarely reproduce on a fast street bike. Here is the arithmetic, with one honest gap.
Step 1, energy in the tank. Tarform publishes a 10 kWh pack (Sony cells) but does not publish the nominal voltage and amp-hour split, so we cannot show the exact V × Ah. We use the published kWh and say so rather than inventing the breakdown.
Step 2, how much you spend per mile. Consumption climbs sharply with speed because drag rises with the square of speed. A 120 mph cafe racer ridden at pace spends far more per mile than the gentle figure behind the brochure number.
Tarform's spec lists a 120 mph top speed, but some press coverage of the Luna has cited figures closer to 90 to 95 mph. This is exactly the kind of claim we flag rather than smooth over.
We carry the manufacturer's 120 mph as a claim, note that independent reporting has cited lower numbers, and recommend confirming the figure for the exact configuration before relying on it. Either way, holding top speed is what collapses the range above: the faster you go, the more Wh per mile you burn.
Charge time is just battery size ÷ charger power. Tarform quotes a fast figure, with one detail the headline often drops.

Consumption is the lever, and it rises with speed². A 10 kWh pack gives ~120 mi gentle, ~60 mi at pace.
Always ask which number a spec quotes. 41 kW = 55 hp, honest but modest for the price.
"Fast charging" needs a wattage and a target. Tarform's 50 min is to 80%, not a full charge.
