On a light, street-legal city moped the running costs are low: the "fuel" is almost free and there are no gears, clutch, or oil. A full itemized five-year breakdown for this model is still being built; we will not pad it with guessed insurance and resale figures for a low-volume bike.

The "6,000 W" headline, decoded

Convert the power spec to the unit everyone feels, then read which number is peak.

Pave rates the hub motor at 6,000 W peak. Convert to horsepower:

Peak: 6000 W ÷ 746 = 8.0 hp  (the headline figure)

That is a moped, not a motorcycle, and the spec is honest about it: 8 hp peak on a 121 lb bike is enough for brisk city acceleration up to its 30 or 40 mph ceiling, no more. Pave does not publish a separate continuous rating, so we will not invent one; the peak figure is what the listing shows.

The honest read: the BK is built around light weight and a 30 to 40 mph ceiling, not power. The torque figure (quoted around 200 Nm, roughly 148 lb-ft, at the wheel) gives it adequate off-the-line punch for the city, but this is a short-hop tool, full stop.

Two versions, one important difference

This is the BK detail that actually decides whether you can ride it on the street. Get it right before you order.

The 30 mph version can be federally registered as a motor-driven cycle, which means in many places you can ride it on a regular driver's license, and Pave handles titling and registration at purchase. The 40 mph version is sold for off-highway, non-public-road use and is not federally registered as a motor-driven cycle.

Pick the one that matches how and where you actually plan to ride, because the legal status is the whole point of the split. A faster top speed is not worth much if it means you cannot legally ride it where you live.

Where "up to 50 miles" comes from

The range claim is a best-case, single-pack number. Here is the arithmetic, plus what the "150 mile" figure really means.

Step 1, real energy in the tank. Pave publishes a 1.96 kWh removable pack at 50.4 V. The exact amp-hour figure is not published, so we use the kWh directly.

Step 2, how much you spend per mile. Consumption (Wh/mi) rises with speed. At a gentle pace a light moped sips; held near 40 mph it costs more per mile.

About the "150 miles": Pave says the bike can carry two spare batteries in its midsection for a claimed total of around 150 miles. That is a stacking-packs figure, three batteries, not a single charge. The 50-mile number is the single-pack best case; the city and at-speed figures above are our estimates from the methodology.
